Executive Dysfunction (ED) is a term used to describe a deficit in one or more Executive Function skills.

Symptoms

People with ED may have difficulties with planning and organization, task initiation, time management, focus and attention, working memory, flexibility and adaptability, self-reflection, and emotional regulation.

Causes

ED is most frequently associated with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), but there are other conditions with ED symptoms, such as Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD), Sensory Processing Disorder (SPD), learning disabilities, or Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI).

Consequences

Executive dysfunction can significantly impact daily life, including the ability to complete school or work tasks, maintain relationships, and manage finances and personal responsibilities. People with ED frequently suffer from low self-esteem, feelings of frustration, overwhelm, failure, anxiety, and depression.

Putting the fun in Executive Dysfunction

The goal of this site is to bring awareness to what is often an invisible disability, fight the stigmas associated with EF deficits and ED, explain the link between ED and creativity, and share resources for further information and support.

And make it fun!!
